Start: MTR, get off at Tai Wo

End: Minibus 52B from Hok Tau Wai to Fanling Railing Station

Beyond the hilltop of Cloudy Hill, there is a path on the right leading down to Sha Lo Tung, passing through Fung Yuen to Ting Kok Road.

Tai Wo

From the Exit B of Tai Wo Railway Station, the trails follows Kai Wo Road to the junction of Tai Po Tai Wo Road. Through the subway, it heads Ting Tai Road. Not far ahead it joins Tai Po Tau Road on the left (beside Tai Po Sports Ground). Along the road, it turns right and then goes ahead a bit at the junction of Tai Po Tau Drive. Afterward, trace the left pathway, it leads to the uphill steps of Wilson Trail.

Chong Leng

Head the trail, it contours along the ridge undulately up, which steps is well paved, with some of shade trees in the beginning. Seeing some falling leaves on the ground, it is likely to feel the aura of the early autumn. Looking up forward, it offers the green mountain seen on the undulated ridges of the rolling hills extending up to the hilltop in the distance. Up to the smooth section of the hillside, you could see several pavilions ahead. Further up, it gradually opens up that could overlook Tai Po and farther Ma On Shan. After ascending straight the long flight of concrete steps, it comes to the rest area on the hillside. At the pavilion toward the north, Fanling and Shenzhen of China could be also overlooked.

Cloudy Hill

From the rest area return to the trail. It immediately joins the muddy path on the left at the junction, which gently leads down then turns upward along the ridge. It is slightly rugged and steep but not difficult. Head the path, it climbs to the top of the knoll with a range pole. Afterward, follow the trail ahead, it winds undulately along the hillside. Gazing to Cloudy Hill, it seems to approach the hilltop gradually. Along the way, it gives a grand view over Wong Leng, Ma Shi Chau and Tolo Harbour. After ascending the long flight of steps and climbing the hillsides, it arrives the flatland near the transmittion station on the top of Cloudy Hill.

Branch: You could take the branch path down to Sha Lo Tung, then go to Ting Kok Road via Fung Yuen.

Hok Tau Reservoir

Along the concrete path, pass through the junction of the right path to Sha Lo Tung, then go ahead. It leads down to the pavilion by the junction. Taking the left path could go to Tai Po Road. Afterward, follow the muddy path behind the pavilion. Along the sylvan path, it is relaxed for cutting through the thick woods and for the peace. On the way, the hill range of Lung Shan and Lau Shui Heung Irrigation Reservoir could be seen on the left. Head to the junction, then take the right fork to Hok Tau Reservoir (going forward could go to Lau Shui Heung Reservoir). During the final leg of downhill, it offers a sublime scenery on Hok Tau Reservoir nested in Ping Fung Shan. After descending the downhill steps, it follows the wooded path to the left. Come to the dam, then trace Hok Tau Road to the minibus station of Hok Tau Wai.

Summary

Other then the long flight of concrete uphill steps, it is pleasant for enjoying the scenic view over Tai Po and Tolo Channel, and for walking leisurely along the peaceful sylvan path with bird sound to Hok Tau Reservoir in the later leg.
