Smuggler's Pass lies in north of Kam Shan within Kam Shan Country Park. It was also a part of Gin Drinkers Line that was a defensive line of military in the past.

Start: Bus 72 from Cheung Sha Wan, 81 from Jordan, get off at Shek Lei Pui Reservoir

End: Minibus 82 to Tsuen Wan

If not run Smuggler's Pass, you could continue to follow Wilson Trail down to the barbecue site beside Shing Mun Reservoir.

Kowloon Reservoir

The trail starts by following Golden Hill Road on the left, after going ahead not far from the bus stop of Shek Lei Pui Reservoir (the way to Sha Tin), to enter Kam Shan Country Peak. Along the way, some of the monkeys are playing, that further shows the vitality from nature. After passing along the curved dam, it ascents slowly. Head to the junction, then join the sylvan muddy path of Kam Shan Family Walk on the right. Follow the path, it soon joins Wilson Trail on the left. Up ahead, it passes through a flatland then descents gradually. Afterward, it converges with Golden Hill Road at the junction.

Branch: If not to follow Kam Shan Family Walk, you could continue on along Golden Hill Road ahead.

Smugglers' Pass

Head Golden Hill Road to the right from the junction. Not far ahead, it ascends the flight of uphill steps of Wilson Trail on the right by the monument. Up the trail, it then becomes gentle and then gradually turns downward. Looking forward at that moment, Smugglers' Ridge could be seen. Past the signpost of W067, take the obscure path on the left front at the right turn of the slightly descending steps, to enter Smugglers' Pass that contours along the ridge. Head it, there is a cubic military stele near the beginning. Along the path, it gradually opens up. Overlooking to the left, Kwai Chung and Tsuen Wan could be seen; Looking far toward the right, it offers a splendid view over the valley of Shing Mun and the sharp peak of Needle Hill. It is a contrast in a large extent between the view on the both side. Further ahead, it leads to the top of Smugglers' Ridge at its range pole.

Branch: If not to run Smugglers' Pass, you could continue on along the Wilson Trail.

Smugglers' Ridge

Head the trail downhill, it turns steep and rugged that would clamber down. It then descends to the military remnants of the trenches and bunkers, that was an important redoubt of Gin Drinkers Line at Shing Mun. You could visit or explore them with lighting tool. Afterward, follow MacLehose Trail on the left downhill. Along the way, some of the trenches could be also seen. Down the trail, it leads to the barbecue site.

Shing Mun Reservoir

From the barbecue site along the concrete road to the left, the monkeys climbing in the trees and looking for foods show their vividness. Moreover, the inverted images of the hills reflecting in the reservoir fashion picturesque scenery. Head the road, finally it reaches the minibus stop at the junction of Shing Mun Road.

Summary

Along the edge of reservoirs, it gives the jade screen on their water surfaces and the scenic view of reflected images of the hills in waters. By trekking over Smugglers' Ridge, you could look down to Shing Mun Reservoir. In addition, visiting the remnants also made the jounery more explorative.
