Hong Kong Parkview

The trail starts from Tai Tam Reservoir Road after taking a short flight of steps up by the gas station at bus stop of Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park. (If taking bus from the south district, get off at Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Road. Follow the road up to the upper right opposite the bus stop.) Along the road up, it passes through Wong Nai Chung Reservoir on the right. Up to Hong Kong Parkview, it joins Hong Kong Trail, also Section 2 of Willson Trail, on the left that climbs up Jardine's Lookout.

Jardine's Lookout

Head the trail uphill, it soon offers a distance view over Mount Nicholson, Brick Hill and the south district. Further up, the slope becomes gentle. Along the ridge not far ahead, it comes to Jardine's Lookout. At the lookout, it gives a grand panorama from Central to North Point and farther to the peninsula of Kowloon. From the hilltop looking around, it seems to be very close between the noisy city in the front and the tranquil nature in the rear, as if breathe of the city sounded around the mountains. Afterward, continuing on along the trail, it soon turns sharply downwards with a flight of steep steps. On the way, you could see the old quarry in the front. Descending to the valley, it becomes uphill again by starting a flight of stone steps alongside the quarry.

Mount Butler

After the steep climb, the trail turns gentle. Heading to the junction, go ahead. (Taking the right fork could go to Quarry Bay via Siu Ma Shan.) Passing through thick woods along the ridge, it climbs to the hilltop of Mount Butler. At the top toward the south, there is the sublime scenery over Tai Tam Reservoir and Tai Tam Harbour. On the other side, you could overlook Quarry Bay, Tai Koo Shing and the eastern of Kowloon. However, facing the higher Mount Parker, I look small. Afterward, head the trail downhill along a long flight of steps. Descending to the pavilion at Quarry Gap (Tai Fung Au), follow Mount Parker Road to the left down to Quarry Bay.

Summary

Hiking along the trail in Hong Kong Island, it seems to shuttle between bustle and tranquility. When enjoying the green country seen, sometimes the city hustle suddenly come. However, we should treasure the nature that do not have to go far from the concrete jungle to the real jungle.
